Valentine Lollipops

Make your own Valentine’s Day cards instead of buying them this year.  Any of the simple crafts on the previous page could be made into Valentine’s cards simply by making them on small pieces of paper instead of a large one. Here are some other ideas that my sons have made...

Materials: ziplock snack or sandwich bags, yar or ribbon ro string, (optional) heart stickers, Swedish Fish Candies or Fish Crackers, pencil, child safe scissors.

Step 1: Type your message on your computer and then print out the amount needed for each card or use my  "I Fish You A Happy Valentine's Day" Printable. Cut out the individual messages.

Step 2:  Have your child sign each card and put a message in each bag.

Step 3: Fill each bag with fish treats of your choosing.

Step 4: Seal each bag and then tie a ribbon or yarn around.  Add two stickers pressed together to the end of one of the ribbon ties (Optional).

Googly Eyes Valentines

Materials: Red or pink craft paper, white paper, tape,  pencils (from the dollar store), glue stick, pencil, glue stick, child safe scissors.

Step1: Type your message on your computer and then print out the amount needed for each card or use my
“Valentine, I think you are just “write”!” Printable.  Cut out the individual messages.  We cut them out in the shape of a heart.

Step 2: Cut out hearts from the red or pink paper so that the message fits on the paper.  I made one as a template by a small piece of paper in have and cutting out half a heart so that when it opened it was a full one.  Then use the template to either trace and have your child cut out the hearts or layer paper and cut more than one at once.

Step 3: Have your child glue each message onto a heart.

Step 4: Have your child sign each card.

Step 5: Turn the card over and tape a pencil to each card.

Minions Valentines

Step 2: Cut out the coloured paper into rectangles or squares that fit the printed message.

Step 3: Cut out elongated oval shaped minion faces (trimming to fit the bottom of the card). Cut as many as you need for your child’s class.

Step 4: Have your child glue each message onto the coloured paper. Then glue the yellow  “minion” onto the paper.

Step 5: Help your child (if too young) draw a black band on each yellow minion for the goggles. Then draw little tufts of hair and smiles.

Step 6: Have your child glue on a googly craft eye onto each goggle.  Let dry.

Step 7: Have your child sign each card.

Step 3: (Adult-step) using a sharp craft knife and a cutting board cut two horizontal slits one on top of the other in the middle of the heart.

Step 4: Insert the lollipop through the slits to create your Valentine gift!
