The Colour Red

Fresh Fruit:

Fresh strawberries, raspberries or cherries make a healthy snack.  Put them together and you have a great red fruit salad

Watermelon is a kid-friendly snacktime treat!

Cherry or grape tomatoes are perfect for snacking, or slice up a large one.  They are even tastier if they are picked from your garden!

And don't forget red apples!

Jam or Jelly

Whether its strawberry, raspberry or cherry, a red jam or jelly is the perfect spread for Breakfast on your Red Theme Day!  Spread it on toast, or swirl it in your yogurt! Even better if you serve it on a red plate or in a red bowl!

Cherry Cheese Cake or Cherry Pie!

If cherries are in season try your hand at making a cherry Pie.  If it's not cherry season a can of cherry pie filling makes a great topper for a cheesecake!

FOODS

BREAKFAST:

Red and White Cupcakes!

Make some vanilla cupcakes (use your favourite recipe or a cake box mix) and split the batter in two!  Add red food colouring to one bowl of batter and mix.  Then put scoops of each batter into cupcake papers and bake!

Rhubarb!

Some kids might like the bitter taste of rhubarb if baked in a pie or in a rhubarb crisp.  If nothing, else you could simply show your child the plant in a garden!

LUNCH:

Toddler and Pre-School Theme Days

Tomato Sandwich or cracker Sandwiches:

Not all kids like tomatoes, my Eldest did not, my youngest did!  But maybe a picky eater might try a bite for your Red Theme Day!

DINNER:

DESSERT:

SNACKS:

Jello!

Strawberry/Cherry/Raspberry Jello  - Make this in the morning or early afternoon so it will be ready for dessert at dinnertime.

Tomato Soup

Tomato soup makes a great red lunch (or try a blended red vegetable soup for different flavours)

Red Juice or Red Tea:

Drink some Red Juice like pomegranate, cranberry or raspberry. Or make some red Iced tea - this one has strawberries in it! Yum!

PASTA

Spaghetti and tomato sauce is perfect for a red meal.
