FUN FACT:


A Hongi is a traditional Māori Greeting.

The Māori people believe that by sharing breaths we share lives – touch noses three times so that our breaths and our lives intermingle.  This is a ritual for best wishes and a good life.

FIELD TRIP:


See if there are any New Zealand animals like the kiwi bird, pukeko, or tuatara reptile at your local zoo.


Visit a petting zoo with sheep.


Go to a Rugby or Cricket match.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:


Rugby and Cricket are two sports played in new Zealand.  Make up your own versions and get your family outside for some physical activity.

The haka is the ancestral war cry of the Māori. it used to be performed before battles to intimidate the opposition but now is performed to welcome guest, on special occasions and before Rugby games!
