INTRODUCTORY DISCUSSION

SONGS

Get warmed up for this Theme Day  with some music.

There are lots of songs about Superman.  Try “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” by Five for Fighting, “Superman’s Song” by Crash Test Dummies, or “Kryptonite” by Three Doors Down.

For a song about heroes try “Holding out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler or for a slower ballad how about "Hero by Mariah Carey."

To the Rescue!

As with all of our Theme Days you may want to commence with a conversation about the theme or topic.  Discuss the differences between a superhero and a real life hero.  You can talk about what courage is and how we can be brave every day without having super powers just by helping others and making right choices.

Superheroes

If your children are crazy about Superheroes this is a fun theme day to try, but even if they’re not into comic book and movie heroes that save the day, there are other types of heroes you can explore.  You could look at: historical heroes, heroes from Greek  mythology, local heroes, heroic acts people can do in life everyday, etc..

Print out the Family Theme Day Planner and decide which activities you’d like to do and in what order.
